英語でジョーク

jokes
http://www.angelfire.com/on/topfen/jokes.html

If you really want to learn a language then it's important to be able to understand the jokes told in that language. This is especially useful in English because jokes form an important part of the English language.

Here you'll find a wide variety of jokes - read them and see if you understand them. If you like one, then try to learn it, and finally practise telling it to other people. Then come back for more!

It conducts programs of exchange, research, and dialogue that bring together key figures from diverse sectors of society in Japan and overseas.

JCIE is dedicated to:

* promoting Japan’s engagement in the international community;
* encouraging thoughtful and collaborative analysis of critical issues in international affairs;
* strengthening civil society and enhancing its domestic and global contributions; and
* establishing, strengthening, and expanding networks of dialogue and cooperation.

Programs are carried out in collaboration with many organizations around the world, and JCIE undertakes many of them in cooperation with its American affiliate, JCIE/USA, which is based in New York.

JCIE creates opportunities for informed policy discussions and does not take policy positions. It receives no government subsidies; rather, funding comes from private foundation grants, individual and corporate contributions, and contracts.

Darwin Awards

Elephants_Press.jpgThe Darwin Awards
http://darwinawards.com/

Darwin Awards Honorable Mentions Urban Legends Personal Accounts Slush Pile

A Darwin Award is a tongue-in-cheek honor named after evolutionary theorist Charles Darwin. Awards have been given for people who "do a service to Humanity by removing themselves from the Gene pool", i.e., lose the ability to reproduce either by death or sterilization in a stupid fashion. As described in the Darwin Award books: The Awards honor people who ensure the long-term survival of the human race by removing themselves from the gene pool in a sublimely idiotic fashion. While an attempt is made to disallow urban legends from the awards, some older winners have been 'grandfathered' to keep their awards. (Wikipedia)

The Japan Association for Language Teaching

The Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT) is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the improvement of language teaching and learning both within Japan and internationally with nearly 3,000 members in chapters and affiliates across Japan as well as members abroad.

JALT members, regular, joint, group, or student, can attend JALT events including the annual international conference at member rates. Most chapters hold regular meetings, attendance of which is free or at reduced rates for members. You can easily join or renew your membership online.

Members also receive copies of JALT's two main publications; The Language Teacher and JALT Journal. The Language Teacher (TLT) is JALT's monthly publication, and carries a diverse range of material related to language teaching and learning, particularly in an Asian context. JALT Journal is the research journal for the organisation. It is published twice yearly; in the spring and in the fall.

JALT also has a number of Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These are national networks for information exchange and fellowship among teachers with similar interests. They further JALT's mission of improving foreign and second language education in Japan. SIGs are based on the various academic, research and pedagogical interests shared by JALT members. SIGs are founded on similar occupations, subjects or levels taught, teaching approaches tailored to Japan, interest in certain fields, or interest in certain issues cutting across disciplines.

Let's Make a Deal!
Connections and relationships are golden in Japan. It doesn't necessarily get you the deal up front, but it gets you in the door, which can be the hardest step of all. In order to cement those relationships, it does require effort. Keeping in touch, a dinner or karaoke from time to time, holiday cards, maybe golf and more, depending on the type of relationship, can all be prerequisites to a successful long term partnership.
